A rain market asks how much precipitation a station records over a whole month. Unlike a temperature market it resolves slowly: the total only ever goes up, and most of the uncertainty is about how many wet days are left.
What the terminal shows
The accumulated total so far this month, from the official gauge.
The long-run normal for the same point in the month, so you can see whether the month is running wet or dry.
How many days of the month have elapsed.
The market's buckets and their implied probabilities.
Why a dry first half is not a dry month
Monthly rainfall is dominated by a small number of heavy days. A month can be far below normal with a week to go and still finish near it. Read the remaining days, not just the shortfall.
